Brownish Pelican is a stylized and somewhat whimsical illustration of the Brown Pelican, a local favorite among birders, kayakers and surfers. These pelicans often fly in small groups, arranged in a single file line, soaring just inches above the waves. They are dive bombers too, falling straight down from the sky to catch fish near the surface. Because of their striking appearance, pelicans are often depicted by humans in a cartoon-ish, even goofball sort of way. I would rather honor this bird for it's graceful elegance and prehistoric charisma.
