Self Portrait with Giant Drill
Friday, November 18, 2011
Did I mention that I'm doing the electrical wiring myself with the help of a friend who knows little more than I do? I bought this drill bit today and the first time I used it, it went right through the building to the outdoors. You can't see the hole because it's behind me, but I was trying to drill diagonally through a corner bundle of about 5 studs, and I miscalculated the angle. Turns out I was drilling in the wrong place anyway. Second try was perfect!

This paragraph is a perfect example of self deprecation. I know it probably was frustrating, but this is one of the funniest things I've read on your blog. I'm still chuckling. This story reminds me of certain sections of the Red Green show. :)

We did a similar thing when running TV cable in our old NJ house, drilled from the upstairs to the downstairs thinking the walls aligned. They didn't, the hole came out 2 feet from the wall in the middle of the ceiling!

You are too funny!! Bob and I are still laughing. :) We've all been there. I guess that is why it is so humorous.

Ya shoulda been there, it was like a sit-com. My contractor saw the drill bits I was originally using, and told me to go and get this kind because it has a screw on the tip that grabs the wood and literally "pulls the drill through". And it did.

I'm still laughing. If you watch PBS, try to see if you get the Red Green show. It's from Canada. You'll identify. Maybe you could do one of your morphing things with the "pulling the drill through" and you, too. :)
